Take A Walk!!

How about this one for the beautiful summer months: TAKE A WALK!!!! It's that simple. Go outside and take a walk.. Every morning before the neighborhood is totally awake or in the evening when the sky is pink, blue and purple from the last of the days sunshine??? It's summer...no matter where you live you can find some beauty this time of year outside. Plus.....the fresh air, sun, pretty flowers...they all help nurture the soul. The key is to walk EVERYDAY!!! A minimum of 30 minutes, briskly, each walk!!

Do an active meditation, say your prayers, go over your grocery list in your
head, admire the beauty of the outdoors...JUST DO IT!

The NPC Central Florida District Championships
Promoters; Son and Kirsten Tran

Sarasota, Florida - I arrived in Tampa the Thursday before the show and went right to BODYTECH. I got in a good work out and cardio before Kirsten came to get me. It was awesome being"home" again. I hadn't been in there since November!! Hugo Riveria came in with some Vyotech products and banners to bring down for the show. He was looking large in in charge for sure!! It was raining really hard on our drive to Sarasota..so typical of the Florida storms!!!
It rained pretty much the whole weekend too!!!

The show went off without a hitch as usual as Kirsten and Son run a great show and are very organized. We spent the rest of Thursday and Friday doing last minute errands and setting up the venue. We had the opportunity to stop at the Oriental market so Son could cook up a feast! It was very good (and healthy too). Anna Clements got there on Friday and as she was 2 weeks out from a figure show she kept me on track with dieting and cardio. We stayed up late and got up early to get the cardio in!!!

Saturday was the show and the original crew was there. It was nice to see some of the people that I only see once a year at that show, Cassie and Andrea and crew did the expediting and show production. It was awesome as we have things down to a tee!

Nat Wonsley

Jose Santiago came in to work and it was good to see him too!

I worked the show as well as did Vyotech Demos in the auditorium, handed out trophies and anything else that needed to be done.

Nat Wonsley guest posed and I must say, he looked great, having just come off the NY Masters Pro a few months prior.

Kirsten and Son found out that they will be moving to Atlanta soon so my Sarasota home away from home is moving to GA!!!

It was a bit of an emotional weekend for me...not sure why really, except being with good friends that you don't see often makes it hard to leave.!
PS: Anna took her class at the Tampa Bay Classic 2 weeks later!!!!!.

2006 Jr. Nationals

Chicago, IL- I traveled to the windy city for Jr. Nats. This was a Protan weekend and a big show so we had our work cut out for us. First issue was that I made the flight reservations and didn't realize that we were landing in Midway instead of Ohare (which was 5 minutes from our hotel). After a shuttle bus ride from hell in 100 degree heat and no air-conditioning , 45 minutes later, we arrived at the Hyatt Regency OHARE!

It was great seeing the usual crew; Tony, Jack, Isaaih. Kim, Rob, Steve, Vinny, Pam and all the rest!! Thursday and Friday morning saw us at weigh-ins and meeting and greeting the competitors as well as other guests! In between all that we were pro-tanning a few people that had contacted us prior or as favors from friends. Mary Hobbs, Kelly and Gina worked with us backstage and were a priceless addition to our crew!!!We were fortunate enough to have a Mayhem delegation there who took me and Nicki to the gym on Friday. Franco ( a month out from his show), Natalie and Q were nice enough to pick us up and take us to train. We had an awesome workout that day (doing deadlifts before oiling up 300 competitors was not a great idea, however!). It was really awesome to meet and spend time with the mayhem crew....they are awesome peeps!!! Franco is a trooper too...bringing all his own food and doing all his cardio while away!!!!

The show went off without a hitch. Nicki and I met some new people by virtue of having to paint them. Jack from Alaska was my big inspiration that weekend. He is a man with cerebral palsy and is deaf. He was flown in from Alaska alone to compete. Meeting and communicating with him really helped me to remember how blessed I am to be able bodied!! Before I knew it he had made friends with the other competitors getting painted in my room and it was a party!! He was a true inspiration to many this weekend!!! Pam Betz always does a great job helping ALL competitors to feel special!!!

Brandie, Tim, Scott and Diana were all there. Diana took 2nd in her first national level show and Brandie was in the top 15. They both looked beautiful and we all had some fun backstage!!! Steve Winnerstrom loved Brandie!! What's not to love, right!!!?? It was awesome being able to see those guys so quickly after our last visit in Tampa - Sarasota.

Phil Heath

Saturday night found us without a place to eat (all closed down early) so we were eating take out and drinking whatever we could get our hands on in the hotel lobby with a group of people. Maggie Blanchard and Dave Follensbee (NE District Chairman) had cocktails and red bulls waiting for us!!
Vince Taylor joined us for awhile. He let us know that he is not a PDI signed athlete yet and is fulfilling his obligations and keeping his options open. He had guest posed at the event earlier in the evening.

Phil Heath was there with his crew of people but he wouldn't play the piano for us!!! It was exactly a year ago that he was just seen on the scene and playing the piano in the lobby...
crazy how life is??????

One of the highlights of my weekend besides meeting the Mayhemers was having dinner with Melvin Anthony! Melvin joined Nicki and I for dinner one day and gave us his testimonial. It was very interesting and moving.

I have a totally new appreciation for Mr. Anthony now and I am so glad to have had this opportunity.
Throughout all my travels with BB I keep meeting really great people. Some may have their quirks but on a whole I really have had positive experiences all around!! Like Lana Dora says: If you give out light you will get it back!" So, I guess I will just keep thing positive and fun and keep doing what I do!! It's reaping some great rewards so far in the people that I am meeting...PRICELESS!

RECIPE OF THE MONTH

BAKED WHITE FISH

You will need:

orange roughy,
cod fillets or
tilapia

Dijon mustard

dill seasoning

lemon juice

olive oil Pam

Spray glass baking dish with Pam. Rinse and dry fish and place in pan
Spread mustard over top of fish Sprinkle with dill/lemon seasoning
Spray again with olive oil Pam
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes (depending on how thick the fillets
are)
The fish will be all white and flaky when don

Squeeze fresh lemon juice over before serving

My favorite way to eat this is served over steamed spinach that has been
flavored with garlic

(If not dieting you can sprinkle Progresso bread crumbs and grated Romano
cheese over the top before spraying it with Pam)

CONTEST PREP TIP

Pack a Foreman Grill And A Rice Steamer To Take To Your Competition.

The hotels will tell you they will confiscate them but if you plug them into the hair dryer outlet you will be fine!! You don't want to start a fire or short out the whole hotel by plugging that stuff in regular outlets! Also bring your own sheets and towels so you don't ruin theirs. They will charge you for that! Bring all of your own food some precooked and some frozen The frozen food will keep the cooler cold and will take a couple days to thaw out! Ask for a fridge for your room as early as possible.
They won't guarantee it but if you check in early you should be fine!!!
